Basement renovation
A framed and insulated basement finished with dedicated spaces for music, guests, recreation and an indoor cedar sauna.
The basement already had its basic framing and insulation in place, but remained unfinished. We developed it into a complete extension of the home with a sound-insulated music room, bedroom, three-piece bathroom, recreation space and custom indoor sauna.
From plan to completion
The layout organized the basement into practical spaces without losing the flexibility of an open recreation area. A dedicated music room received added sound insulation, while the bedroom and three-piece bathroom created comfortable space for overnight guests.
The cedar sauna, built-in cabinetry and rock-climbing wall were all made by hand on site. Designing and building these elements for the room allowed the storage, play features and finish details to fit the available space rather than relying on standard off-the-shelf pieces.
The indoor sauna was built with cedar benches, a cedar slat floor and a HUUM heater. Its materials and detailing give the basement a dedicated wellness space that feels integrated with the rest of the project.
